Summary
of the Little Malvern Priory PCC Discussion of the “7th
November 2010 Review” The LMP review was discussed at meeting of the
Little To aid consideration by the PCC of
the views expressed by attendees at the Review held on November 7th
2010 it was agreed that the focus for the meeting would be fresh initiatives
raised by more than one of the Review sub groups. Whilst time has not permitted an exhaustive discussion of all of the
points aired at the Review, a summary of the interim discussion follows: 1
The suggestion that there be additional evening services was in hand. The first of these was arranged for 29th
May 2011. 2 The selection of
hymns would become more open with a call for requests for particular hymns to be
associated with seasonal services. Canon Eric agreed to pursue this request. 3
Alistair Booth has agreed to formulate a strategy for effective
communication of future events. 4
To promote awareness of PCC members it was agreed to include
identification photographs within the Pewsletter after nominations had been approved at the AGM. The
AGM is scheduled for Wednesday 18th May commencing immediately after
the Annual Vestry Meeting which starts at 19:00 at LMP Church of St Giles. 5
It was agreed that contact details from the electoral roll should be made
available to those who regularly need to make contact with members within the
congregation. Note was taken of the fact that such dissemination did not require
the PCC to be registered under the data protection act.
The Electoral Roll would be the prime source of this information. 6 Future editions of
the Pewsletter would be used to raise awareness of the activities
of chaplaincies which LMP supports. In addition hyperlinks to these chaplaincy
web sites for additional information would be provided by Robert Steel as the
web custodian within appropriate web pages of the LMP web site. 7
Acceptances of invitations to speak as part of the Lent Programme at LPM by the chaplains which LMP supports namely
those of Long Lartin and Sherrards Green provided opportunities for meeting them and learning more of the work they undertook. 8
The merit of LMP PCC sponsoring the provision of flowers and or shrubs
and their subsequent maintenance within the flower beds at the 9
To improve welfare provision it was agreed that nominations for a small
group should be sought to ensure that those needing additional support were not
overlooked. An initial call for nominations has been published in the Pewsletter. 10
A February March 2011 issue of the Pewsletter promoted awareness of the charity
supported by Griselda and sought additional support. 11 In discussing options for a
significant fund raising event at LMP in lieu of the Garden Open Day it was
decided that any alternative would be severely compromised by the lack of
adequate car parking space and limited accommodation within the church.
Therefore no alternative would be arranged this year. 12 To explore further fund
raising opportunities within LMP church a concert has been arranged for April 30th
2011. 13 John Chatten has designed a
bookmark which bore an image of the church and has a prayer on the reverse. This
met with general approval and it was agreed to approach Jocelyn Bailey to take
the idea forward. This topic will remain on the
agenda of the PCC until a response has been formulated to all the points raised. Derek Webb Secretary LMP PCC |
